INI MBANG a.k.a BRANDINY SPENDS TIME WITH SECONDARY STUDENTS IN AKWA IBOM STATE


Ini Mbang, popularly known as Brandiny, a renowned entertainer takes out time to visit secondary school students in Akwa Ibom state and assist them in their academics and entertain the students. The Lagos based international artiste said he came home to share his talent, experience and assistance to the Akwa Ibom students giving the hope for the future...

The proud Akwa Ibomite who is also the son of the former head of Methodist church Nigeria and the world His Eminence Dr.Sunday Mbang (CON) made this known in during an educational outreach programme for secondary schools tagged ‘Brandiny spends time with secondary school students in Akwa Ibom State’ and the first school to be visited was Girls high school, Ikot Ibiok, Eket.

During this, Brandiny said that the programme aims at boosting the students’ self-confidence, for them to pay complete attention to their academics and working hard to achieve good grades. 

The programme is also for the students to involve in extra-curricular activities, so as to develop their talents at these early stages. He maintained that for the students to discover their best subjects and talents would build respect for themselves as individuals and even their parents, teachers and the world at large. 

The graduate of economics urged them to believe and see themselves as the best in all their endeavours and having a positive perception of themselves would take them to their zenith in life. 

He also showed gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Godswill Akpabio for his free education scheme and this was a way of supporting and complementing the Governor’s work.

The principal of the school Princess Grace B. Etang, said students of the school have continued to maintain a high level of discipline and improvement in their academic and physical output, attributing this feat to the diligence and commitment to duty by the staff. 

Etang said the school, which was founded in 1983 by Eket Women Development Association, to promote the girl-child in Eket and the country at large, has since its inception benefited from its founders, its Parents Teachers Association, Exon Mobil and well-meaning individuals.

She listed the challenges of the school to the swampy nature of the premises during the rainy season, lack of perimeter fence, shortage of teachers in subjects as mathematics, commerce, history and computer studies and inadequate staff quarters. Others are non-installation of the generating plant and lack of stabilizers for the computers donated by Total Fina Elf and she appealed to the Government, public and spirited individuals to come to their aid. She also thanked Mr Ini Mbang for his visit, showing appreciation and gratitude for the support he gave.

Ini Mbang’s manager, Mr. Martin Onyirioha also told us that a spelling  competition was put up for the students as part of the programme of the day where the winner and 16 other participants went home with several prizes. 

The day also featured a musical performance by Ini  mbang where the students, staffs and guests were entertained beyond their wildest imagination.

The winner of the spelling bee competition Miss Eunice Isaac Isaac, an SS1 student, who busted into tears, when she was presented with the gifts. She was given a mobile phone, dictionary, mathematical sets and exercise books by Ini Mbang while other participants went home with mathematical sets and exercise books. 

In her words, “I never imagine that I would win this competition. I was about to go home and tell my mum who the winner was, but here I am holding the winning prizes, God bless Ini Mbang for remembering us”.

He also donated dictionaries to the school’s library and two sets of dance costumes to the school. Also at the event, P-Harmony the MC, the director of Dance Ville Academy; Mrs Edimabasi Udoh and Nollywood actress, Mrs Ekaette Inyang, encouraged the students on the drive for creativity, passion and dignity.

Ini mbang said he would be visiting other public schools in Akwa Ibom to continue with this humanitarian act.
